Right & Left mould board plow id

Postby rjd » Mon May 21, 2018 4:11 am

Picked up a Farmall B on the weekend from Tasmania, Australia.
Came with a exhaust lift and a set of right + left plows.
Just hoping some can I'd them for me from the numbers.
Both have PO 25826 cast in to the top of the main frame, length looks right for the B.
Any ideas?
Thanks Richard

That part number was used on 4 plows, two for the B and 2 for the BN. One was the B-192, a right hand only plow. The other B plow was the two-way B-187. That part number should be on the right beam ONLY. The left beam should be PO 25 825. The nearly identical corresponding plows for the BN were the BN-192 and BN-187. These plows were all built from 1941 on.

Ok thanks, I'll recheck the numbers.
How do I tell the difference between the B & BN type?

Reread what Jim wrote, the numbers have B or BN before them.

Ahh, but to tell the plows apart when the model numbers are worn off . . .
The rockshaft assemblies that fit between the rears of the fenders have to be different lengths to fit the B vs. the BN. Several parts in the assembly are different because of the length difference. As far as I know, that is the only difference between the B and BN versions of the plows.

Left beam is a 5 as you say, only the IHC logo in front of the cast number.

Any ideas where the model number is on the plow?

Thanks everyone for the help.
I'll have to free up the linkage and go from there.
