I picked up this fertilizer spreader at a garage sale. I think it is a Cole. It should work well for me to top dress my peanuts among other crops. I would like to fix it up as it looks like some parts are bent and of course needs cleaning and lubricating. Anyone know what model this is and where I might find manuals or parts?

I should mention I don't intend to buy a mule to use it with. I would like to be able to roll it by hand though. I wasn't intending to adapt it to my Super A either but after I hear from you all what I have here I may try whatever you all think.

Older post, but I'll add my two cents...
I agree that this is a Cole unit, very similar to the 12MX versions in a lot of ways that they still make. Maybe semantics to some, but this is not a spreader, but a planter with side dresser. You won't be able to roll this along by hand, you need something to pull it along. Since you've ruled out the mule, you'll have to pull this with your Super A, and rig up something to lift it at the end of the row unless you want to get off the tractor and disengage the lever.
This was meant to plant and fertilize at the same time, but won't allow you to side dress after the plants come up, another device was needed for that.

that is a cole model 41 cotton and corn planter.I have a model 40 without the fertlizer hopper I use on my cub to plant corn with.removed handles and it fits on the cultivator frames with a bracket I made.I have the book on these planters dated 1949.It has the price list for every part on the planter with p/n.most all prices in the book is less than a good cup of coffee today.Plates are readily available. My dad bought one in 1949 new and a blue nose mule to pull it. They were made in Charlotte N.C.

We have one just like this sitting in our flower bed with flowers planted in both hoppers.
God is good, all the time!
