2016 Spring Scantic Valley Antique Engine Club Show

Postby Peter Person » Sun May 15, 2016 8:55 pm

The Tolland County 4H Piston Pushers Club was invited to put on a Garden Tractor Pull at their Spring Show on Saturday May 14th. Picture perfect weather!
Since the 4H fair is not until August, several members did not have their tractors ready but we still managed to put on a good show with 6 tractors.
Four (4) Cub Cadets, One (1) Wheel Horse, and One (1) Bolens repowered with a 2cyl Wisconsin.
Winning pull by the Bolens of 7" at 5,300lbs. One of the Cub Cadets pulled 3" at 5,300lbs when a loud bang occurred followed by a rear wheel/tire rolling away. Broken Axle.
Also saw some neat items, Savage Arms Mowers, 1939 Ford 9N with Cast Aluminum Hood, and a Farmall M with an M&W 2 Row Corn Picker.

The ford looks pretty good with that hood,do you know if it came from the factory or was it custom made.

IIRC the first Ford Ns had an aluminum hood. Should make it worth a little more at the scrap yard.....

I like that Farmall M and picker. It looks familiar--believe it saw it on Ebay a few months back. Glad it found a good home!
