@ Dale - I'll add this one for you. Depending on how busy we get, you might (I said "might") have to forego a final rebuild.

Roy.

No problem!! I've done enough of those, they don't worry me. Plus, I might want to take too much time cleaning things!! The front seal on the '55 would be #1, the left final pulled to replace the brake on the '51 #2 maybe, and anything else that we might have time for after that!

Can't put too much on the list or we won't have time to eat the great food you always have!!! :D

Just curious why you changed them if they worked fine? :)

What, are you my wife now??

Dale Finch wrote:Hey guys! I have good news and bad news...the good news is I got my "new" '55 Cub running today and it is ready to go back to the farm...EXCEPT the front seal is leaking badly. ANY chance you can put me on the schedule for a front seal change? I have put a pulley back on a cub, but never taken one off, and I don't have the tools for it. Pleeeeease?!

Dale, I have a front seal with the sleeve from IH if you need it.

Thanks for the offer, but I already got one from IH. I have now stacked everything I THINK I will need, and I believe I could probably stock a parts store with all the stuff I am bringing!!! Good thing I have an F250 and an 18' trailer!

Mr E, do you have the talent for some brazing? Or do you know someone who does who will be there? I noticed the overflow tube is separated from the neck of the radiator, and was hoping to find someone who could reattach it. I've never done any brazing.

Me, either. Ole Raymond can probably handle it. Or Gary.

I had thought Raymond could do ANYTHING! However, I did ask him, and he said he hadn't done brazing. Maybe it is time for him to learn?!! I would have had someone in the body shop here do it for me, but they don't have a "brazing tip". I was going to buy one for them, but Chapel Hill is not overrunning with those kinds of stores!

Surely one of the "regulars" there can do this?! Hope springs eternal!

I used this method on one of my cubs several years ago, have not had any problems with leaks.

Tim, will you be at DSCF? Have you done this? What tools would I need to do the soldering?

I had forgotten about this one...I may bring a drilled bolt and nut with me just in case!

Thanks

I have two IH carbs that pour gas even though we've gone through them before. I'd like some help with root cause analysis.

Roy, I regret to inform you that I will not be bringing my Cub this year. A friend came over after church today to look at my Chevy and saw the tractor loaded on the trailer. He asked what was wrong and if he could take a look. In ten minutes he had it running like a top. When I told him the headlights needed repair, he wanted to look at that too; so again, in a little while they were shining brightly.

At that point, I just unloaded it and put it back in the garage. Maybe I can ride around on one of your Cubs...

Still bringing the carbs? What was wrong with the tractor, BTW.

Remember three years ago when I brought the Cub that wouldn't start because it was out of gas? Well it wasn't that bad, but it was close....
