Barnyard Bash Projects & Demos

The shop is getting a new look to its layout. Hopefully it will provide more room this year. Now is a good tome to work on getting the Bash projects lined up. So far we have this:
CubBrian – Clutch replacement
Harry Volker – Brakes
If anybody has any work they need done that requires special tools let us know now. Others may have the needed tools and may bring them if asked.

I also plan to have the buzz saw and hammer mill set up for demonstrations. If you have corn you want to bring along to mill for your chickens feel free to bring it along. I can also buy corn from our neighboring farms if anybody is interested in buying any, but I would need to know at least a week ahead of time so I can set a time to pick it up.

Weather permitting, there may still be ground to plow and tall grass (sickle mower) to mow by then so I will have a Cub set up with a mower and one with a plow if anybody wants to play.

Gary Dotson and I are working on a plan to show the proper way to wedge the front of a Cub while working on the rear. Brians brake job would be a good example to use. :D More on that as it progresses.

If you have any additional projects please let us all know so we are prepared to help. See you at the Bash.

Barnyard, I'm more than willing to help with any projects that arise! Just excited to be able to make a Cubfest in the center of the Cub Universe for a change!!

Anybody need a TC rebuild?

Depending on how things work out I may bring one or two, or no Cubs, I have charging problems with one, so that would be a good small project.
The other needs a clutch adjustment, (and a hundred other items) so that would be a good small project as well.

Looking forward to the Bash and the shop time.

I'll be relining some brake bands for CapeCodCubs if anyone hasn't seen that done before.

Thanks Mike, I'm sure your expertise will come in handy throughout the weekend.

Doug, bring 'em both down. That way if one gets done you'll have another to tinker with and have help if you run into a problem.

Bob, I have tyo watch you do this. I will have some to do after the Bash.

The weekend is shaping up very well, it looks like we will have a productive time. :{_}:

I would be really interested in some plow time, especially if you have a FH available. (& some one-on-one time with the plow master) Thx!
I would also be willing to assist in any manner where needed in the shop... I probably won't be able to bring my LoBoy, but maybe something will shake loose. Can't wait!

Stan, There will be some plow space left in the garden. With the rain we have had I won't be able to get everything planted before the Bash. You plowed here before so you pretty much know what we have.

I have a fast hitch plow I could mount on my loader Cub or Loboy that has the grader blade (we could take that off). I also have the 193 mounted on the 47 that can be used.

I believe the plow master would be more than willing to give you some tips. :D

Actually, Ive only attempted to plow at the CI and my own little garden. Made a mess of both, but the disc and tiller hid the evidence. I figure some tips, (I've read the set-up and probably did something wrong) would help. I'm trying to avoid removing the mule drive when plowing, and it may be causing my issue. If so, I'll live with the messy furrow. It probably involves the relationship of the front bail to the rear cross bar. Seeing it correctly operating and the position of everything should tell me.. (a photo or two will also help) Which hole to use in the bail, and pinned or not in the rear.
Hard to explain here... But I'm sure it will be obvious with some experience around... :) Cya soon!

Stan,

More than happy to help you with your plow setup. I will only be there on Friday.  Said yes, when I should have said no.

Bill

Edit: I will not be there Saturday because I agreed to make a presentation on lawn care. Should have checked my calendar before agreeing to make the presentation. :( :( Hope this helps those that I may have confused.

I will also have my sickle servicing tool and gas tank lip straightening tool available. So if you need new knives on your sickle bar (you need to bring the parts) or your gas tank lip needs straightened, bring 'em along.

With Bill's blessing, I have offered to demonstrate the correct fitting, installation, and removal of gib keys on Friday. I understand, not many are used specifically on Cubs, but there are several attachments, (combine for one) which do use gib keys. The company I work for, continues to use them, and has several specialized extractors that I can show as well. If there's any interest, I can bring the goodies along. :D
