YES!!! I checked with the owner, and January 19th is ON!! The name and address of the place we will be working is:
Brown's Auto and Collision
11744 Hwy 15-501 South
Chapel Hill, NC 27517
You can reach me with any questions at 919-360-7979 (cell). I plan to work on my '53 Cub and any/all projects are welcome. I know I will welcome a few extra hands to help me! I will have my tools, a hoist and rolling jackstands (one for the Cub and one for a SA) for splitting. There is compressed air, electric, water, a hydraulic press, hydraulic jacks, parts cleaner, a sandblaster (you need playground sand from Lowe's at $3/bag) and sandblasting cabinet (though I haven't used these last 2 in a while so condition is unknown!) If you plan a project, please bring your own supplies such as carb cleaner, seals, gaskets, filters, oil, gear oil, HyTran, etc. It is not a mechanics shop, so there are few supplies for that. You could do some painting, also, and I do have a respirator. If you plan on bringing a really dirty beast, bring some cleaner to wash it down outside (purple power, etc)! I will try to bring some miscellaneous common hardware and I do have some gasket material of different thicknesses, but don't count on much.
There are restaurants and fast food places within blocks, and a nearby NAPA store, (but I don't know their Saturday hours) There is also Clapp Bros and Tractor Supply in Siler City about 30 minutes away, but Clapp Bros closes at noon, I think, on Saturday.
All I ask is that we leave the shop clean and tidy, so William doesn't kick my arse out!!!
We should have a good time. I know there are a lot of NC Cubbers around here...MAYBE as many as in Ohio!!!! We are just a bit quieter down here!
If for some reason any tractor is not able to make it out on Saturday (I have faith that we will get everything done!), I am sure we can leave it in the shop. It is secure and no one works on Sunday...I will manage to get a key, I only live about 2 miles away from the shop and it could even stay over til Monday if needed. There will be plenty of parking. Right now the field next door is set up selling Christmas trees, but will be clear by Jan 19.
Looking forward to meeting everyone!
