**UPDATE** RPRU and Golf CartsI have spoken with the Du Quoin Fairgrounds and General Chairman Barbara Greer concerning personal carts at RPRU.
Personal carts are allowed but, proof of liability insurance must be shown to enter the fairgrounds with the cart. There will be a $15.00 charge to permit the cart on the fairgrounds for the event. In other words, one $15.00 charge for all three days. If you want to rent a cart from the fairgrounds, the charge is $75.00/day for a two-seater cart. I was told the fairgounds is a large, paved area and that alot of walking is in store for those that don't have something to ride. Re: **UPDATE** RPRU and Golf CartsI would assume there is no charge for Personal Mobility Vehicles a.k.a. Electric wheelchairs or mobility scooters? I am going to have to see if I can resurrect mine, or borrow Dad's new one.

Re: **UPDATE** RPRU and Golf CartsIf you have a handicap placard the $15 fee is waived.

Re: **UPDATE** RPRU and Golf CartsI didn't realize you could get liability insurance on a golf cart, or does the automotive insurance cover that? Is that the proof of insurance they are wanting, or is this somthing specific I need to check on? Our golf cart isn't one that is "street legal". We do have the Handicap Placard.
Re: **UPDATE** RPRU and Golf CartsIf proof of insurance is required for an event such as RPRU, all you need to do is contact your auto insurance carrier (Farm Bureau in my case), and they will send you a waiver, just for the time and place of the event. No charge in my case.

Re: **UPDATE** RPRU and Golf Cartsnormally a copy of your home owners insurance is good enough if your golf cart is not registered as a vehicle.

Re: **UPDATE** RPRU and Golf CartsOur camp ground, as well as many of the shows we attend require liability require proof of liability coverage on golf carts. When I contacted my agent, he said home owners would only cover when it was at home. Mine is covered on my auto policy and has a card just like my car or truck. It costs a whopping $21 per year.
Re: **UPDATE** RPRU and Golf CartsMy insurance agent told me that my personal liability coverage on my homeowners policy covers me in the event of an accident. I hope he knows what he is talking about.

Re: **UPDATE** RPRU and Golf CartsOthers have told me that their home owners policy covers them so I assume different companies have different guidelines. Just make sure you have documentation showing that coverage.
Re: **UPDATE** RPRU and Golf CartsIs there a contact number for reserving carts for the show or is it first come first served??
Thanks

Re: **UPDATE** RPRU and Golf CartsI am glad that this topic came up. I had never heard of golf cart insurance. Although I am not going to RPRU, I will be taking my cart to the Rough & Tumble Threashermans' Reunion in Kinzers, Pa. next month. (My wife is mobility challanged.) I took it to Kinzers last year, and no insurance issues were raised, but it sounds like something that I might want to look into for future venues.
Since retirement, the things I miss most are the holidays!
Re: **UPDATE** RPRU and Golf CartsThiggy, more & more of the shows are requiring liability coverage, although they may or may not ask you to show proof. You should make sure you're covered whether they require it, or not.
