Barnyard Bash Projects

Postby Barnyard » Thu Apr 19, 2012 9:06 am

If you have a project that needs done at the Bash post it here so others can see what is going on. You may be doing something another member would like to learn. This will also let others know in case they have a special tool to help with your project.

If there is a certain repair you would like to learn let me know that too. We will try to have some one show you or explain it.

So, what's gonna be here to help with your repairs? Well, so far here is a little bit of what you will find in my shop:

Rivet tool for sickle mowers
If my sharpener works we can touch up a few blades
20 ton press
An "A" frame
Engine hoist
Many hand tools
Mig Welder
Radiator Tester
Front pulley puller
Oven for heating the pulley for installation
Small sand blast cabinet
Carb top straightening jig

If anyone has any specialty tools let us know here also. That way others will know what to expect.

This looks to be a great opportunity for many to learn more about how to repair their Cub.

So far our projects include:
Video Doc - Install mower
Larry Gray - Right axle seal

The girls don't take too well to very many southerners. They hold daily training exercises to stay in shape just in case one shows up in the barnyard.

I'll be bringing my various meters, tachs, timing light and so forth. I'm also bringing a powder coat gun to coat some head light reflectors for Bob McCarty. I'm bringing my toaster oven along, since it has a taller opening than yours, Bill.

Your thermostat probably works better than mine too. I think that last pulley we put in mine vaporized.

I am trying to arrange to come to the Bash. Here is what the 48 needs:

Install the "new" mag I got from Cecil at the Cub Tug.

Pull the hood to do:
Reverse leads on the amp gauge
replace head gasket after checking and adjusting valves
Maybe a new wiring harness (if I have time to find one)
work on or replace ignition switch

Remove oil pan, replace gasket and change oil and filter

Remove old radiator drain plug and replace with?

Repair rear light (new lens primarily)

I already have the gaskets, oil filter and oil. Will need other parts. Thanks

Bill
I have a beat up 1948 cub that I planning to take to the Bash. I bought the cub a while ago and it has been sitting in my back yard. I took it to Boss Hogs and Cecil and Don got it running. The mag was bad so Cecil rebuilt the mag and I have the rebuilt mag now. I am going to do some work to it like flush the radiator, change the oil, clean up the gas tank and Sediment Bowl before it makes the trip to the Bash.
It needs a rear mine seal, front tranny seal and gasket, front seal and I would guess a clutch job.
I sent an oil seal retainer to Phil Luke and wanting for that to be shipped back to me. I will get the other parts.
Bacon makes everything better.

I have a carb that needs attention to the top as well as a kit installed.
Also would appreciate some help with a kit installed in a hydraulic pump.

Looking forward to seeing everyone soon.
