I have a question about the cultivators on the early cub in photo #92. The cross bar that's hanging from the standard tool bars, Was that one piece bar an option or home made? I haven't seen one like this before and couldn't find it in the manual. Mine has the 2 pieces and I think this bar would be better to hang the hiller disc from.

I have added the picture to this thread to make it a bit easier to look up. This tractor belongs to one my co-hosts, Tim Ezell, who is standing by the tractor in the tan shirt. Can some of you cultivator experts chime in about the bar in the picture, please.

Two questions: Why all that firewood, in "Sunny Florida"? Thats more than I use, all winter. And why "Green" tractors, at a cubfest? (Sorry, I come from e red, vs green, battleground). Ed

Good question Ed!

Me too Ed. Dad's family was all IH and Mom's was JD. In real life they were like the Hatfields and McCoys. (True story).
There are two ways to get enough Cubs. One is to continue to accumulate more and more. The other is to desire less.

Well, Ed, on the firewood. We had a storm come through here and take out a few trees, Hence, the firewood.

And on the tractors, I will quote my good friend, Bigdog. "I never met an old tractor I didn't like"

First, let me say I am not a cultivator expert by any means.

I also looked in my manual and I cannot find the tool bar. I am positive that it came with the 144 cultivators. It is not homemade. I have seen them on Ebay for sale but could not find one today.

The thing about looking at them later is I see some of the many new members that I know I met, but I also see a lot of folks I don't think I met. A guy can really get busy at a CubFest.

Speaking of busy, Billy Ray is either taking a phone in order for lunch or he's calling the shop to tell Raymond how to install a bearing.

Billy Ray was probably calling me. :{_}: I was bringing the bread for the Kelley Sausage he was cooking and I was running a few mintues late.

That Billy Ray really pops a whip!!

The solid bar that runs between the mounting frames is not originally an option for the Cub-144 cultivators. It serves the same purpose as the horse shoe shaped lay off bar for mounting tools. The straight solid bar is from another model tractor, although I dont know the exact one.
