How Far Will You Go?Last night, my wife asked me a question, "How far would you go for a Cub event?"
Got me to thinking about that, so I'll ask ya'll a couple questions: 1) How far have you traveled to a Cub-related event? 2) How far would you travel to a Cub-related event? Both questions are from your home or city to the event. I'm not trying to make this some kinda contest, just think it might be interesting. I know people travel far, what about you? Stanton

Re: How Far Will You Go?I drive 3 hours, to Cecil's cubfests. Have been to the tug, twice, (800+miles), but didn't drive it. Snagged a ride, with Cecil. That;s probably as far as I would go. Ed

Re: How Far Will You Go?I have gone as far as 750 miles one way, and 550 a couple times, plus 350 a few times, but with the arthritis and other problems in my back those long trips are just a memory. Pretty much limiting it to a couple hundred mils max now, and may become less.

Re: How Far Will You Go?I have traveled a little over a thousand miles to attend the Louisiana Cubfest. That's probably about my limit. I think you will find out that Bob McCarty is the champion traveler on the board.

Re: How Far Will You Go?First, I have not been to a cub related event.
Second, would depend on my schedule. April, May and June would be no more than what I could make to and be back the smae day. Not very much time for and/or not much time at event. Mid september two days. November thru February three days, one for travel each way and one day at the event. Weather forcast could cause a change of plans however and I don't think winter is a good idea. July and August are iffy but my "workload" is getting lighter and one of these days I do hope to make one and put a face on the people on the forum. Vern

Re: How Far Will You Go?Went to the Texas Tumble a couple of times. Flew once and drove once delivering a tractor. Little over 1000 miles one way. We drive 800 miles to DSCF and routinely drive 500 miles or more to several events. Every one has been worth the trip.

Re: How Far Will You Go?From central IL to OH so far, hope to get to Ed's in N. FL this winter! Maybe Boss Hog's next year! Timing is the mail thing. Dusty B

Re: How Far Will You Go?1100+ miles to the DSCF -- 16+ hours in the saddle, straight through, both ways. I'll be going to DSCF in February but I may travel a little more sensibly.

Re: How Far Will You Go?So far, 650 miles one way is the longest I have driven to a cub event. Time, rather than distance, is the limiting factor for me.

Re: How Far Will You Go?I drove with Bob Phillips from Dartmouth Massachusetts to Huntsville Alabama so he could get a fast hitch harrow and loboy flail mower. Picked it up and drove back, non stop driving except to eat and use restrooms....we took turns driving and sleeping. Left Friday at noon got home Sunday morning around 5 or 6. It was a good trip...despite our differing political opinions. lol
My longest venture to get a fast hitch spring tooth harrow, fast hitch two way plow and fast hitch harrow was to Highland Plantation in Maine. I left at 6 in the morning and got home around 9 at night. Basically drove for 15 hours by myself. Brought the dog for company. There were 50 residents in the town and it was so far up in Maine that it was north of the southern Canadien border. I was hoping to have a mini Cubfest when I went to Hawaii this spring but couldn't find any Cub owners on Oahu, I did try! I asked TM parts for their customers names over in Hawaii but they wouldn't give them to me...which is actually very professional of them...I also posted on Craigslist but got no where with that...
Re: How Far Will You Go?Ohio Cubfest 650 each way

Re: How Far Will You Go?Deep South 736 mi, 12.5 hrs. Going again next year.
Cecil's 795 mi, 13 hrs. Going for first time this year.
Re: How Far Will You Go?Checked this out via MapQuest so the distances are approximate and one way only. Double it to get home or depending on what the schedule is, it might be a round trip
How far would we go? When we can travel we intend to travel all over Canada and the US sooooo from our house : Stoustville Ohio is 22 hrs 25 mins / 2165.08 kilometres or 1345 miles Harrison Ohis is 23 hrs 46 mins / 2310.36 kilometres or 1435 miles Longmont is 27 hrs 54 mins / 2900.95 kilometres or 1802 miles Gillsville, Georgia is 26 hrs 29 mins / 2561.20 kilometres or 1592 miles Sneads Florida is 31 hrs 15 mins / 3066.82 kilometres or 1906 miles Randolph, Virginia is 20 hrs 53 mins / 1913.84 kilometres or 1189 miles Hammond La is 33 hrs 43 mins / 3358.39 kilometres or 2087 miles Burlington Ks is 33 hrs 43 mins / 3331.03 kilometres or 2069 miles Hixton Wisconsin is 29 hrs 36 mins / 2815.88 kilometres or 1750 miles Paris Illinois is 26 hrs 16 mins / 2563.06 kilometres or 1593 miles Tipton, Indiana is 24 hrs 36 mins / 2372.77 kilometres or 1475 miles Fredericktown, Missouri is 29 hrs 57 mins / 1822.52 kilometres This isn't all of the fests we want to go to but is a good indicator of the distances. The other fests are within those limits so I guess there really isn't a limit to how far we would travel eventually to get to a CubFest. Some of these fests we have been trying to get to for many years ... still dreamin Confusion breeds Discussion which breeds Knowledge which breeds Confidence which breeds Friendship

Re: How Far Will You Go?Drove to Cecil's for a mini fest back in '08 with my '56 Loboy. About 165 miles. That was my first and last. No cub at this time but hope to have one again. These gatherings are really great in many ways. Mostly the genuine interest in each other and our respective lives as much if not more so than the tractors themselves. With a very young family, these trips will have to wait a while.
