Short Visit with Guests at A CubFest

Postby Barnyard » Sun Jun 17, 2018 8:49 pm

After the Bash this year I got to thinking. I hope I greeted everyone there and had a conversation with them. However I also thought how many of those guests may have had a very short conversation. I know I said Hi to everyone but, did I really talk?

I decided to do the math. The average hours of the Bash was from 8 am til around 5 pm. That is 8 hours a day and covering two days it would have been 16 hours. That adds up to 960 minutes. We had about 70 folks over those two days. If you divide the number of guests (70) into the number of minutes available (960) you end up with less than 15 minutes talk time per guest. So if you talk for a half hour with someone or you are chasing after parts/tools/food, or helping load/unload Cub Express stuff or anything else that can pop up at a Fest, you cut that talk time per guest way down. Quite possibly it is 8 minutes per guest or less. Doesn't sound like much time to visit considering the time many spent to get here.

I sure hope no one felt like I was ignoring them.
There are two ways to get enough Cubs. One is to continue to accumulate more and more. The other is to desire less.

Bill, I think we all understand the time constraints putting on a great Cubfest places on the hosts. You do a fantastic job.
