Cyclone Spreader Restoration

Got a project that you are working on that is not a tractor? Maybe a barn to hold your tractors or just fun stuff like woodworking, glass, tools, sheds, gardens, custom implements, etc., this is the place to talk about it.

Both lathes are tied up on jobs so I used the 3 axis milling machine as my lathe this morning to make my undercut and drill the hole in the center.

Does the piece turn in the collet, or does the collet turn in the block?

Both are secured. The collet is locked in the block from the back side. The mill head comes down then the table (X & Y) moves to desired radius. People tell me I have it made with this mill, it only does what you tell it. One decimal off and oops! Trust me on that one, haha.

Made a new thrower. Someone said "if it can cast a shadow it can be restored"? I think that may have limitations as this piece can cast a shadow but it is as thin as a Kleenex. I thought about making it the same shape but I'm going to use it not look at it. Now I just got to balance it.

The drive shaft is in pretty good shape other than the protective covering on the outside which looks like a hydraulic hose.

I got some wire loom and heat shrink tubing from McMaster Carr and it looks a lot better than it did and is fully flexible.

PTO adapter done out of stainless as well. The angle is a little off because I free handed it instead of programming it on the CNC, it'll work.

Put a piece of short 5/16" stock in the spreader plate then stuck it in the milling machine via a drill chuck. Started it out @ 200 RPM and bumped it up in 200 RPM increments and stopped @ 1,200 RPM. No vibration at all and I don't figure I'll be chunking fertilizer at 1,800 RPM anyways. I think it's good to go now just waiting on powdercoater.

Got the doohicky thing straightened up(ish) & welded, then turned down that the thrower and chopper thing goes on. I have no idea what this looked like before I have never seen one other than this one but this is what I'm going with.

Got all stainless bolts from a bolt place near our shop. Here is everything I need for the grand total of $10.00 Can't beat it! Also ordered some stainless chain and hooks for the lid from McMaster Carr.
