, we still are able to get some stuff done. Limited to specific duties but still enjoying it and it will allow me to putz again in the shop come spring.The project itself was completed mostly by November but life gets in the way and now I finally have the energy to post an update .....
Keeping in mind that while this project was ongoing, we also had 20 cords of wood cut, junked, split, hauled and piled in the wood shed and the house, did the side line project and a bunch of others. One of my biggest issues is knees and other joint issues and working on concrete or working on gravel is not good, in fact it is rather painful. I originally had taken into account when we started the pole barn project 8 years ago ... oh my... has it really been that long???? .. that eventually I wanted a wood floor so that stuff was level, maximize storage and a few other benefits of a sub floor that come with that package.
While we were building the Wood Shed, Ray decided that the trusses he had been storing here would make a great beginning to a couple of projects and this floor project is number 2 in that triumvirate as it turns out.
Most of it is self explanatory. The cabinet shop floor is about 12 inches higher than ground level at the western wall ... so that was the obvious starting place. When the poles went in, this was also ground zero so it made sense to start there.
First chore was to empty the pole barn
The next order of business - level and use deck block for primary support. Add in vapour barrier, frame stock, 2" styro insulation and then the sub-floor. All the framing stock came from those recycled trusses and is primarily 2"x6".

Only real job left to do for this phase is to mount the hoist to the ceiling and the electrics. Pole barn is almost done.
What amazes me is that before the ramp, Granny, Ellie-Mae, the 53, and the JD all fit front to butts and the Cub Cadet, Craftsman are under the shelving unit as they are projects for another day. The Putt-Putt started right up and we parked her in the 53 foot storage trailer down below for the winter (oh yeah, that was another we had to do it project this year - leaked like a sieve). There is lots of room for the Lo-Boy and loader to fit right in. Wow... 4 Cubs, a JD and 2 garden tractors fit in this setup.... amazing.
