Something is taking root in the barnyard - and it is done!

Got a project that you are working on that is not a tractor? Maybe a barn to hold your tractors or just fun stuff like woodworking, glass, tools, sheds, gardens, custom implements, etc., this is the place to talk about it.

Once it passes inspection those are going to get sealed with insulation. I have to have three in the front and back with two on each end. the only part I don't like is, spacing will put the front ones tight in three of the overhead doors. we are working on a plan for later.

Glad the warm weather is here. We saw a little more progress today.

The front is planned for tomorrow and the side are supposed to be Wednesday and Thursday. Calling for rain tomorrow so that might push things back a day. If not the front tomorrow then they will work on the hurricane straps inside. We don't get hurricanes but tornadoes have been known to pay us a visit now and then, so the county requires the straps.

Never heard of flood vents before either. During a flood do the vents let the water into the building and allow the water to flow out again, reducing the pressure on the building??

Yes, that is basically what they do. You would think they would want to keep the water out to protect the contents.

Looking good Bill, nice to see some sides going up! Temps are much better, too bad so much rain is in the forecast this week.

It will be done before you know it!

Just Looking at your barn there Bill, there seems to be actually enough height there to have a loft inside :!: :!:
Re the flooding, there is no way you can keep water out of a building no matter how well it is sealed. However in a well sealed building it is possible to keep the water level down, but then if the flood is strong enough the building could float away

Speaking of "protecting the contents" I think the flood vents look like burglar doors.

There will be a 15x40 loft on one end over the shop area.

Scrivet wrote:...I think the flood vents look like burglar doors.

At eight inches high they would have to be small enough to squeeze in. If they are that small one of the five dogs should be able to carry the crook away.

It rained all day Tuesday and the inside was still muddy from the melted snow so the guys were a no show. Yesterday they did some bracing and trim.

Today they finished the bracing and trim for the front and finished the red panels on the front. It is now starting to show it's shape.

Looks good. From the pictures it looks like your crew is doing a good job and doing it right. Can't wait to see the completed pictures.

Hard to tell from the reflection/angle, but what color is your roof? Appears to be either galvanized metal or green(?). How about the color of the wainscot? I may have already missed this, but are you putting in a concrete floor?

Any-who, it's looking a whole lot better than mine... ...someday

Yes, it will have white wainscot. The roof is gray to match BOB. It will have a six inch concrete floor.
