Re: Band Saw Boxes !
I made one in the shape of a heart for my wife for a Valentine's day gift. Filled it full of candy she loves. They are rather simple to do, I read an article in my Fine Woodworking magazine a few years back and that gave me the itch to try one. It is a fun project, I glued up a bunch of Cherry and Walnut to make mine. I also let the kids at school make them. It is a good way to eat up some scrap in a fun way.
I use a 1/4" blade on my saw, and also make sure you mark everything and do not sand it till you have completly finished. I sanded once and it didn't want to go back together right aftwards.
Good luck with them.
There are a ton of tips online if you search Band saw box.

Re: Band Saw Boxes !
I do make boxes but use a scroll saw rather than a band saw.
I make and sell stuff at craft shows of which 90% I use a scroll saw at some point. The rabbit is the only box made only on the bandsaw. It opens on the lines about 1/4 inch in and turns on a dowel covered by the eyes. The peanut and square box last cut was on the band saw but could be done on a scroll saw. Not everything is varnished. Shows before Christmas about wiped me out and now I'm making more. Boxes are fun! Make boxes! Vern

Re: Band Saw Boxes ! PICS ADDED
Well, I figured I would try one to put my watches, tie clasps, wedding band, pins etc in.
I glued up 6 pieces of Poplar and cut one out. The drawer pulls are small pieces of Bloodwood.
Finish is Watco Natural Danish Oil, two applications.
