Hello everyone,
I'm not really working on a tractor project this winter, but instead a 63 Ford F100. We lost Dad last August, and I inherited his old truck, that has been in our family since he purchased it new in January of 1963.
My brother and I restored it for him about 28 years ago, and he enjoyed driving it around. He logged almost 11,000 miles, before his health began to fail, and it sat in storage until about a month ago.
We pulled it out, got it running again, with minimal efforts, and more importantly got it where it would stop again.
The engine took almost nothing to make it run again, just the fuel system cleaned up. The brakes were another story, from age and sitting so long, it needed all new shoes, wheel cylinders, and and a new master cylinder.
I am going to fix a few more things, and try to return it as close to original condition as I can. When we restored it we installed an later model seat that looks out of place. I saved the original and found a place on the west coast that can match the original fabric and make new upholstery, for it.
I am attempting to post some pictures of it and will post a few more pictures as progress continues.
Hope the pictures post ok.
Best regards,
Brad

Yes, my condolences for your dad. Thanks for sharing this story and for allowing us to go along with you on this journey. I'm sure your dad would be pleased that you are giving the F100 some attention.

Sorry about your dad's passing. I'd suggest replacing all of the break lines.

Sorry about the loss of your dad. That’s a really great old truck, well done to keeping the truck and your dad’s memory alive. Great wee garage / workshop too.

Re: Dad's old truck
Thanks Guys. Dad had a great life, and would have been 88, in September. He had a love for anything that was I-H Red, but had a weakness for Cubs.
We had a lot of fun, messing with old tractors, and going to show, and with the exception of the last 4 or 5 years his health was great.
The truck was really meaningful to Dad, and driving it and working on it, brings back good memories.
It was warm here today, so I took advantage of the great weather and worked a little on a few things.
I had the wheels off on the front, again and adjusted the brakes. The wheels / rims are the wrong ones, and I hope to be able to find the originals, and two more the of the bottle cap style hub caps. So far only two have surfaced. Not sure what happened to the original wheels, and Dad put some newer style hub caps on it, sometime in the early 70's, as he liked them better. There are some many things around, to dig through, and I have a couple more places to look.
I cant seem to get the instrument panel lights to work, and after messing with it some today, I am pretty sure its the switch.
The picture below was taken at my sisters place in the fall of 2006. Dad drove the old truck about 30 miles with a cub on a trailer behind it to plow a garden.
