front tires

Got a project that you are working on that is not a tractor? Maybe a barn to hold your tractors or just fun stuff like woodworking, glass, tools, sheds, gardens, custom implements, etc., this is the place to talk about it.

front tires

Postby nescoman » Mon Nov 09, 2020 4:48 pm

Hello gentlemen,
I just received new 4 x 12 tube tires from Amazon. I took them and the rims to my service station to get mounted. My mechanic called me and said that my rims only work for tubeless tires. Can anyone give me advice? thanks, Kermit

You need a different mechanic.

It is possible the valve location on the tubes isn't suitable for your wheels though.

you need a new mechanic, all cub wheels were designed for tubes, if a front wheel is in nice shape and the rim is not rusty where the bead seals they can be run as tubeless

Maybe the rims on your tractor are not factory original? Could they be trailer rims?

After thinking about this, for a bit, I think I know what his problem is. The Cub rim is so narrow that it's difficult to maneuver the stem into the hole, but a mechanic could do it. He may also be confused by the small stem, big hole issue and the need for a stem bushing.

for the tubes with a small stem they make an adapter that fits the stem and the bigger hole in the rim, it is a TR13 adapter

I've found that the adapter works good if held in place with some duct tape or similar material while the tube is being installed. A small "x" cut in the duct tape will allow the valve stem to come through. Makes the job a little easier. :hattip: JMHO Stan

FYI tire shops are mighty liability conscious these days..
