Cyclone Spreader Restoration

Got a project that you are working on that is not a tractor? Maybe a barn to hold your tractors or just fun stuff like woodworking, glass, tools, sheds, gardens, custom implements, etc., this is the place to talk about it.

Silver was painted yesterday and I picked it up this morning. Red should be next week they said. The inside where the metal meets that I replaced I am going to get some silicone and seal it up real good, hopefully this thing will last as long as it already has!

This spreader had holes all around the top, I have no idea what they were used for but I know what I am going to use them for. The hinges were also spot welded to top and bottom but were only attached to the top when I got it. I have no idea what kind of bracket was on the bottom because I couldn't find evidence of any spot welds where the hinges went on the bottom. I made a piece and also made some angle pieces for the unused holes around top as a shelf for a piece of wire mesh I haven't cut yet. I haven't cut it because I need to notch it around the opener handle and the chain for the lid. Here is what I have so far with new stainless hardware.

Stopped by a decal place near work and ask about making new ones, man said he would make me a whole sheet full for $25.00 that was at 12:30 P.M. and he called me at 3:30 P.M. and said they were ready. The Cyclone was isn't perfect and isn't exact but it will work.

Sweet! I like it!

I'd use that to throw salt on my gravel drive in the winter-time, seeing how I don't have a garden big enough to warrant that size spreader. I like the decals too. They're close enough that no one will raise an eyebrow.

As always, ya done good. Thanks for sharing the process with us!

Wife told me to go by a friends house one day after work he has been cleaning out some things and his grandkids have outgrown a couple things and he wanted us to have them for our kids. I stopped by yesterday to pick them up and saw this spreader laying in front of his building with some other things. We loaded the other items and I said I want to stop and look at that spreader, we have one and I just want to look at it. He said I was taking it for scrap but you can have it for free. I jumped on it! It's in a lot better shape then the one I restored. It has the single hole in the bottom and he bolted a piece on it for a 3 point and was using it on another tractor. The weird thing to me is it has the exact same serial number as the other one we have. I wonder how many have the same serial number? It has "Cyclone" on the serial number but "turf spred" on the back, I thought "spread" had an "A" in it?
