Thanks to all who responded, helped or contacted me on this. The 140's are tough to find this far north, but just ask Boss, they are very common as planter/cultivator tractors in the south. I found some farther away and some not so far away. It seems like the further away they were, the better they were. I put the pinch on Boss for help and evaluations and asked if he knew of any I hadn't already found. He didn't, but knew a guy not that far from me he has dealt with in the past and has a lot of faith in. I called the guy and told him what I was looking for and if he knew of any around. He happened to have one he was planning to keep but would sell. He described it, sent me pictures, I sent them to Boss, he called the guy for more info and he called me back saying it was a keeper at the price. I made the deal and brought it home.
It's a 1975 Farmall 140 in pretty nice original condition that he brought back from Pennsylvania. Not pristine but honest, working bumps, bruises and scrapes. Everything checks out well, except the ammeter doesn't work, but it charges fine. It still needs some cleaning up as it was driven across a creek not long before I picked it up. And I only had to cross one state line, the Ohio River.
