What is your Cub's primary work? Mow grass and plow the garden.
What is the favorite Cub of all which you have owned and why? I like both of my cubs, the 48 was given to me by my Dad for fixing his 49 cub, which had a frozen engine. That’s how I can to find Farmallcub.com , looking for info on how to unstick a cub engine. That was back in late 2004. So I guess you could say my 48 is my favorite, but then again I like my 55 a lots too.
What first sparked your interest in owning a Cub? Fixing up my Dad’s. After I got his running and the engine rebuilt I went about working on mine.
What task/use of your Cub provides the most enjoyable seat time? Mowing grass which is about 5 acres. It gives me a lot of time to reflect and slow down the pace of life. Very enjoyable.
Favorite thing you like about Cub's and Cadets? The extremely nice folks I have met by owning these little tractors, both here on the forum as well as other places locally too. I look forward to Cubfest and any other event that involves cubs since I know there will always be someone there I know or can strike up a conversation with!
Describe your most satisfying or frustrating experience working on your own or someone else's Cub? ( 2 most satisfying) (1)It has to be the time when my brother and I took my Dads cub back to him after we finished the paint job after the rebuild. It was the Sunday after his birthday on Saturday. I love to look at the picture of him when he started it up for the first time after a 7 years of having it sit in his barn. It just don’t get any better! (2) The time I spent with my Dad on Fathers Day weekend at BigDog’s Cubfest in 2005. It was my Dad’s and my first event and we both had a super time together, looking over cubs and learning all about them. That fall we took in Cubarama and that would be the last cub event my Dad would be able to travel to that far away. He still comes to Stonethrow each year to see old friends!
(most frustrating) the time I spent working on my magneto, which took forever. And then not being able to get the timing right. Finally at Stonethrow Cubfest Russ and Billy Ray got it figured out…..the wait and frustration was worth it all just to see those two in action!
Do you host or participate in CubFests, Cubarama, Mini-CubFests? How so? I along with my wife, Paula and the family host the Stonethrow Cubfest here in Gillsville, Ga. the first weekend in October. This year (09) will be the 4th year and it just gets better each year. Not on the account of us but because of all the folks that come. It all started when my Dad and I attended Bigdogs Cubfest in 2005. I talked to George Willer, BigDog and others and the idea was formed and after some email exchanges I finally decided to just jump in. The first year was small but we had a great time. It has grown each year and other forum members here have always been willing to jump right in and help, that’s what makes a Cubfest a Cubfest the members here!!!
