Posting photos from iPhone 5

We all like pictures right? Well I can't seem to upload mine to my posts. They say they are too large. I've tried doing a search of old posts but still am lost. Step by step instructions would be most appreciated.

Does the iPhone 5 have a photo resizing app (iResize perhaps)? Alternately, you should be able to change the settings on its camera to take lower resolution pictures. I always resize my pictures down to 1200 pixels in the maximum dimension before posting and they show up nice for all to see.
