Problem opening posts

Postby Clownfish » Thu Oct 24, 2019 7:50 pm

For the past few days about 50% of the time when I try to open a post or even just try to go to the forum I get an error message or a strange screen that I assume is computer code. This is when I am using my I-Phone. When I close the strange screen and try again I get what I was looking for. See screen shot below.
Is anybody else having this problem or is it just me?

Earlier this evening I received a notice stating that this site, FarmallCub.Com, was not safe. Report the error to a supposedly Microsoft site and/or phone number. Locked up my computer. I have had these notices before.

Alt, Control, Delete. Select task master. Select end task. Unlocks my computer.
I have an excuse. CRS.

Glenn, I'm not seeing those full page warnings, but do get a "Not Secure" just to the left of the web address at the top of my page. I'm seeing/reading this from my work computer that has several layers of security software in place. Had some issues several years ago through my work computer of even accessing this site, but that was corrected.

I've got a phone service repairman coming out today to repair my phone/internet connection. But when that is complete, I'll log on from home to see if I get the same warning you've been getting.

Is the issue specific to your phone, or can it be reproduced on a computer as well?
It appears the web browser is showing the "html" code instead of interpreting the code to display a web page.
Have you performed a shut down and restart of the device?
Are any updates for the device applied?
I would start with a full restart, cures a lot of ailments with electronics.

I did restart the phone and the frequency of the problem is less but still occurring on my iPhone. Haven’t had the problem on my computer but I seldom use it to access the forum.

Thanks for that information Glenn.
There have been issues in the past with the native web browser(Safari) on the iPhone had issues with rendering some web pages, it was rare and but did occur.
Is this forum the only web location that this behaviour is noticed?
Does it occur when you phone is connected to your WiFi network and also the subscriber network(cell data)?
Can you install the Google Chrome Web browser app for iPhone and see if it behaves the same or shows the page properly each time you access it?
Sorry for all the questions, but it is my nature as I am a IT technician.
Also, ensure all the updates for the iPhone are applied.

I have been on the forum several times today and haven’t had any problems. All use of the phone to access the forum today has been on my WIFI.

Hi Glenn,
Thanks for the update.
Hopefully it was a temporary issue and does not present any further problems going forward.
If the issue does arise, feel free to PM me, and I will assist you in attempts to resolve it.

David,
Thanks for the offer of help. Over the next few days I will try using the forum with my computer, different phones and my IPad and see if there are any problems. I will let you know the results. I have much better success fixing tractor problems than computer/phone problems. The only exception is “Rebooting” the computer often corrects the computer issue but never seems to fix the tractor. :D
