Spray Gun Problem

Postby John C » Sat Oct 05, 2013 7:05 pm

I got out my Accuspray HVLP gun tonight for spraying some primer. I haven't used it in a couple years maybe. When I ran laquer thinner through it, it sprayed fine, but the thinner continued to shoot out in a stream after the air flow stopped. What could cause this?

I would assume that you need to take it apart and clean it again. Something isn't seating properly.

Thanks Ricky. I suspect the gasket that seals the cup is dried out and is not sealing properly. I will have to go online and find a replacement.

The good news is that I suddenly recalled having purchased a kit last year that included a case, three HVLP guns, and a set of cleaning tools. I got out the biggest gun and it worked great. I had always wanted to try a gravity feed gun and I was very pleased with the results over the siphon feed.
