I got this tool for Father's Day. This is the first chance I had to try it out. I'm very happy with this result.

BTDT! Many times. Handy thing to have around. How big is your p/washer, hp, psi? I have one but my p/w is not strong enough to pull it. At work we had an 11 hp that made over 3500 psi. You can do a lot of things with them using different tips, grits, even baking soda. Are you using anything to retard the flash rust on ferrous metals? What we had was called a Hydro-Sander made in Colombia, SC. Used to go to the quarry and get screenings that I screened again to save money. Also if done on hard surface, when dry, you can sweep up, screen and reuse grit.

Honda 8HP 2700 PSI, 2.3 GPM. I did not know there was anything to stop the flash rust. I was just so happy to not have to sand it all off, taking flash rust off seems like a dream. I was just using play sand. I screen it through the sifter I use for my blasting cabinet. I made one modification to the tip, to make it harder for water to get into the pick-up tube. Any water in there and there is almost instant plugging.

I know I can't use it on everything, but it sure was handy for this application.

Interested in what you did to modify sand pick up as that is my problem also. Flash rust- any detergent that won't affect paint adhesion, TSP maybe, but you have to inject it into the water stream before sand is picked up. Our unit had both high and low pressure injection. Don't remember just how it worked. Thinking I used a trigger spray bottle to treat before and after. Here is a pix of similar unit to the one we had. The pump was huge and belt driven, electric start too.

If you own one of these turn the pick-up tube as shown in the photo. I also have added a used spring over the end of the tube to alleviate any compression due to the angle change. This change eliminates water getting into the P/U tube - which when it happens causes blockage.

Rotate P/U to this Configuration.

Hey Ken, If you can make ice cream and electricity with a cub, why not a pressure washer? A cub should be able to pull a carwash sized pump like the one in the previous post. Since belt driven, shouldn't be too hard to hook up. You would then be able to wash/sandblast anything !

Another Modification - I had a pressure washer that I can no longer get parts for. I had saved the handle. I took out the factory tube, removed the quick-connect from the Norther Tool Blaster, installed the threaded adapter for the pressure washer and - Now I have a dedicated pressure washer sand blaster that's not 5 feet long. :D

I need to Look at my Northern sandblaster. The one at work didn't have too long a handle. It did have a double nozzle for washing, one side for high pressure and one side for low. It had a ball inside and which ever nozzle was on top worked and the ball sealed off the other.
