I mean, since it gets better gas mileage, i would see taht as a plus... but if it costs so much more to run, are you really saving anything?

That is one of those "your mileage may vary" type questions. From my personal experience so far, I say yes. I figure if it can increase my MPG, it must also be doing a heck of a job protecting engine parts from excessive wear too...

yeah that's true. I've used synthetic oil in my truck before... when i could get oil free... but then that stopped and I couldn't afford it anymore. I'm thinking about that royal purple, just to see if it helps. Heck with my truck, any mpg that i can gain, helps a ton. :)

Kind of off topic but

I use Amsoil.
They invented the first certified synthetic oil for car back in the 70's and changing my oil once every 25,000 miles is nice.

I persoanlly love the stuff...will not put it in my cub...it is very high detergent....I buy it for our equiptment at our power plant.....maybe 500 gallons a year....everything is happy....500 million dollar power plants don't lie...yes I tested it out here before I took it home...been using it for 9 years with no ill effects...it was 111 degrees out here the other day and we sailed right through it......
