Tractor Supply parts ordering.

Postby John *.?-!.* cub owner » Thu Sep 23, 2021 11:53 am

I need a fuel line assembly with tank grommet for a 20 year old Ryobi trimmer I bought from tractor Supply 20 years ago. I called thelocal TSC to give them the part number, but the man who answered was very brusque and said I had to come it to order it, that's just the way we do it. He expected me to drive 30 miles each way to order it and then again to pick up a $10 or less part. That is not a place that will get much of my business anymore.

You’ll be much better off visiting a L&G shop. A few years ago, a friend went into the local TSC and ordered nozzles for his Clarke blast cabinet. After an extensive wait and numerous inquiries, the item did not arrive. Later, he went into the store, again, for something else (probably dog food) and found his nozzles hanging on the display hook, where they should have been on his first visit. TSC is no place to special order anything!

I've been shopping at TSC for a while, since they built one in Lee's Summit (over 10 years?) and have seen them go downhill over that time. I can imagine others who have a longer experience with them can really see it. The biggy for me was discontinuing VanSickle paint in favor of the inferior Majic. Was in there a week ago, after not being in there for a couple months. They had flipped the entire store merchandise from one side to the other. Looked like a mirrored flip right down the middle of the store. Same stuff, different place. Some survey or study on consumers probably motivated them to do it--they think they can sell more. Now, the dog and horse food people need to retrain themselves to head to the LEFT back side of the store instead of the RIGHT. Wow.

In their defense, I have ordered some Tisco oil filters for my Cubs (Baldwin) at a decent price online, had them shipped to my local store, and then pick them up. John, you could try that, but sounds like you may have already made your decision.

Ordered (13) 10' T-posts back at the beginning of May from the TSC in Stafford Springs. Asked if they could check inventory at other stores, nope - don't have that capability. Followed up weekly until I was at a point of no return to get the vegetable garden fenced in so we could plant Memorial Day Weekend. Aron looked online and found the Sturbridge, MA store had them in-stock. He called and they confirmed they did, so he picked them up on his way down to our house. Sometime in late July or early August got a call from the Stafford TSC stating they still did not know when the posts were coming in. I debated on whether to tell them I already had them installed, but was curious to see if they would ever get them in and contact me. Still no call!

I order some of their clothes on line and have them delivered to the store...other than that I only buy nuts and bolts, paint and hitch hardware. They aren't as good as they were

Local store here in Kearney, NE is good. The manager sets the tone and she is very good...a farm gal who knows her stuff and has a good staff. Probably a lot depends on the local manager.

Their IT systems are crap. Those of you that have to travel to a store be aware that when the web site says it's "in stock" at your local store that only means they have a shelf space for it. The corporate web site can't see actual store inventory. I ordered some oil filters from them a couple years ago. It took two trips to get them because they can't figure out what they have. Good news is after a month they refunded one for some reason.

They're also expensive. Generally I prefer Rural King.

On the other hand I had a Rural King rain cap on my H. One of the ears for the flapper fatigued off after two years. I picked up a replacement at TSC and the material was twice as thick as the RK cap. Of course I picked it up at the 2nd TSC because "In Stock" at my local store meant there was a hook with a tag but no caps. Fortunately I had to pass 2 stores to get where I was going.

I would if we had one closer than 30 miles. I tried to get my parts from TSC because that is where I bought it 20 years ago.

This is going to tell my age, but I remember when TSC actually sold tractor parts You could get sleeves, pistons, rod and crank bearings, etc.

I use TSC from time to time, but I find myself going to Rural King now since it opened up locally a few years back. I also use Dickey Bubs a lot. I personally don't like ordering anything from TSC because they even add shipping costs to their own stores when you order things larger than a bread box (or so it seems). I did buy a couple of implements (Countyline) from them that they had in stock and didn't have to pay for having them shipped to the store.

My TSC was originally a Farm and Fleet. They were good, until tsc bought them out
