Denver Gardener drill bits

Postby John *.?-!.* cub owner » Thu Apr 03, 2014 5:54 pm

Was drilling a couple pieces of steel to put a 5/8 pin in them, and when I finished the pin would not go into the holes. i thought I had grabbed the wrong bit, but on close look it was engraved 5/8, and my pin measured 5/8, so I looked in my box of spare bits, and found a new one still in the package and tried it. Slipped through the hole with no problem. I got my digital caliper out, and the pin measures .624 (5/8 = .625), but the 2 supposedly 5/8 drill bits were only .621 I finally grabbed the bit for my 5/8 Helicoils which is slightly larger than 5/8. The result will be a lightly loos fit, but that is not a problem in this application.
