What is it ??

Postby Mr E » Sat Jan 17, 2015 8:56 pm

This is not a contest. I would just like someone to tell me what this thing is. A friend showed it to me and I do not have a clue what it is.

Rather than post all the pictures here, I'm providing a link since they are large. Pay particular attention to the video. If you turn the outer gear, the top piece moves on the horizontal plane; if you turn the inner wheel, the vertical piece moves up or down.

No clue what it is, but you better get it off the kitchen table before your wife throws it at you. :D

Never seen anything quite like it, but the knob is a double, one moves the top slide with setscrew forward and backward, and one moves the slide on the end up and down, or maybe moves the unit up and down on a piece of tubing or round s5tock in the end one. There appear to be a couple half sleeves on the bottom interned to rest on something, and then move a horizontal piece up and down or in and out to align it with another (vertical?) as if for exact positioning before cutting an angle or attaching. Not sure how you would remove it if holding to attach two pieces.
If you are not part of the solution,
you are part of the problem!!!

Don't know either, but that shore is a purdy quarter sawn oak table.

I don't know, it looks pretty specialized. I bet some of those SteamPunk people would love to have it.

It went "Zip" when it moved
And "Bop" when it stopped
And "Whirrr" when it stood still
I never knew just what it was and I guess I never will
