Full Plate

Postby Stanton » Wed Nov 05, 2014 8:02 am

Well, my dad's bone scan from last week showed that the prostate cancer from 10 years ago has reared its ugly head and spread to every bone/joint in his body. A series of events too numerous to mention has brought us to this point and now dad is under hospice care.

My mom has suffered from memory issues for years (ever increasing) to which dad didn't do anything about (other than cover for her). Now that he's incapacitated, mom really has no reasoning power or ability to handle the gravity of the situation.

My only older brother was diagnosed with colon cancer a year ago. It had leached out to several organs (stage IV) but with help from the Lord and Cancer Treatment Centers in Tulsa, appears to have temporarily won that fight.

I'm heading to Saint Luke's Hospital in Kansas City on Friday morning to repair my mitral heart valve (leaky) and will be laid up 6 days there and return home for an additional 5 weeks recovery.

Can anyone spell F-U-L-L P-L-A-T-E?

Even with all this, honestly, I'm not anxious nor overwhelmed. I have the peace that passes understanding from the Lord who has wonderfully prepared the way before me. For my family, who has enjoyed very little medical problems in the past, it did seem to hit all at once within the last year. It's amazing how fast life can change. I'd encourage each of you to realize it can happen so fast. Be ready for it. Make sure your footing is secure (spiritually speaking).

I appreciate you folks. My wife, Robyn, should log on sometime after my surgery to give an update. May the peace of Christ be with you all. :)

God Bless you and your family during these trying times. Yes, God knows best and we all have it to go through if we live long enough to out live our family members and friends. God will provide our needs and calm our troubles.
