My Great Grandmother

Postby Pony Master » Fri Sep 09, 2011 11:47 am

I have been very blessed in my life with having most of my grandparents as well as a couple of great grandparents. Growing up around them I have learned a lot of the old ways and a lot about the ways people should be treated. My Great Grandmother on my mom's side has been there along the way, and has taught me a lot. We celebrated her 99th birthday this last May. I got a phone call this morning saying that she was having difficulty breathing and she was at the hospital. I got a call from Grandma a little while ago saying that the doctors believe she has had a serious heart attack sometime in the last 24 hours. She is not doing very well, and we are waiting for some more test results, but at 99 I am not sure how much "bounce back" she has left. She has lived a good life for 99 years. I do not want my Great Gramdmother pass, but if she does I hope it is peaceful.

Chad, you have been blessed to have had your great grandparents to help guide you in life. Rosie and I will keep her and your family in our prayers.
There are two ways to get enough Cubs. One is to continue to accumulate more and more. The other is to desire less.

Sereral test results have come back and they are always more discouraging than the last. Things sure do not look good at this point, but she is sitting up, alert, and eating. Not sure if that makes it better or worse that she is hearing what the doctors have to say. Only time will tell.

Well, great grandma is hanging tough at this point. So far they have determined that she has pnumonia, upper respritory infection, lung infection (did not know they were all different but evidently they are), urinary tract infection, congestive heart failure, and quite a bit of damage from the heart attack. We do know that one of her heart valves is stuck closed and that her cardiac enzyme level is still on the rise. Right now they are playing a balancing act with the IV antibiotics and the congestive heart failure. The more IV they run the harder it is for her to breath. The prognosis is not good, my biggest concern is that she does not struggle.
