Gray Cub update

Postby Yogie » Fri Aug 26, 2011 9:07 pm

Since Bigdog's posting has gone 4 pages I thought I'd start a new thread now.

Grayson was moved from ICU this afternoon for a couple hours. While in the new room he lost control of his head and neck movement areas and was once again moved back to ICU after another scanning. Since then he's gained control of all movements and has woke up twice and answered about half the questions asked right.
Really confusing but we're told this is all part of getting through it. An older RN told Brenda she's seen this go on for 2 weeks sometimes....
We'll know more in the morning (Saturday) after the doctor visits at 6:30am

Thanks for your thoughts and prayers, he thinks the world all of you guys.

Yogie,

Cecil has it right. I can't imagine going through what you are going through now. My prayers are with Grayson, Brenda, you and your family. God be with you.

3pm Saturday afternoon.
Gray Cub asked me late last night to bring in a small blanket from the car he's slept with since leaving this hospital 10 years ago. He bundled up the smelly thing and stuck it under his nose and slept well off and on all night. Today he's done very well while awake but has spent most of the day sleeping with the blanket.
Guess I should have had it with him from the begining... :||):

Doctor says the scans came back okay but he'll still remain in the ICU for a while yet.
If the rest of the day plays out the same I'll be thrilled. :{_}:

Thanks to everyone...

As Mike asked earlier yes they just found out it's La Crosse Encephalitis, now they can focus more on what they're fighting.
He's done really well today and stayed alert, other than loosing his apple sauce all over mom at lunch time it's been a super day. :{_}:

Wow. That's a tough battle. Good thing they were able to diagnose this being so rare. We'll be pulling for him.

I read that great article about him at Cecil's. Thanks for sending it up to share with us.
