I'd appreciate prayers for a friend of mine who is going through a consultation for carpal tunnel surgery today. He is just all torn up over it, and need some calming...

Have a family member who had open carpal tunnel release surgery done, had a great recovery. but had to take it easy for a few months.

Tell him no to worry about it. Normally a carpal tunnel release is done in an open bloodless field with a local anesthetic. I had a double release done in 85 under a general. It made for a difficult recovery. A number of my friends here have had releases done over the last few years. 15 minutes and all done. Prayers on the way.

I had carpal tunnel release surgery a few years ago on my dominant hand, and was kind of worried about it too. But if he just gives it the proper time to heal he'll be fine! In fact, it's been great not having to deal with dropping stuff, cutting my fingers and not feeling it, etc. etc.
That simple surgery has made a big difference, and your frend will be fine.
