Special Tribute...

Postby Corky's Cub » Sun Oct 10, 2010 11:10 pm

Hey all,

Although this is not Cub-related, I thought you might like to see this just the same.

JR and I spent the weekend by celebrating the memory of Blake's best friend, who sadly lost his life in an auto accident almost 2 years ago.

We made the trip with Blake and his fiance to his buddy's home town of Columbus, GA for the celebration...along with 50-60 of his other friends and family.

Jamie's mother insisted that the gathering be a celebration of her son's life...

As she and Jamie's father honored their son by releasing sky lanterns in his memory
Image

It was a very touching moment, that brought everyone together with good stories of fond memories
Image

Then we all had the opportunity to release our own lanterns in Jamie's memory...

And 25 sky lanterns were released into the autumn sky to celebrate each year of an inspring young life cut short.

Blake's best friend, James Earl Lumpkin, Jr. was born October 11, 1985, and lived his life to the fullest until we lost him on February 27, 2009.

Rest in Peace Jamie ole buddy...the memory of your smile sustains us all.
I found this old Cub, Forgotten and Forlorn,
With pistons and valves frozen and worn.
Help from my buddies on Farmallcub.com,
And an engine from Ralph, (37’s the one),
Now ole Corky is running and back to life,
Much to the surprise of my dear, dear wife!
