Patriot Day

Postby Jeff Silvey » Sat Sep 11, 2010 6:42 am

Lets take the time today to remember those who lost their lives on the morning of Sept. 11, 2001. Have a moment of silence at 8:46 AM.
As well as those fighting for our FREEDOM.

This day has a double meaning for us. Along with the tragedy of 9/11/01 we lost our older son on 9/11/03. It is hard to believe it has been seven years since he left us. I remember well the support shown us by the great folks on this board. It is that spirit which will keep this country strong.

Never forget!

A business associate lost his wife and young daughter and his wife's best friend. One has FF miles on American and the other United and they were headed to meet in LA, flying out of Boston. My wife's cousin's wife was late for work. Her bus was late that day. She arrived in time to look up and see the second plane fly into her building. Her husband did not know anything about her fate until she showed up at home at 4PM, having walked much of the way before a Good Samaritan gave her a ride. He watched the buildings collapse from his job in Brooklyn. I'll never know how my former customers at the US Customs lab fared in WTC 6, although I expect they got out OK... at least physically. I was there one week to the minute, on the other side of the wall from the parking garage bomb, before the first attempt was made.

My heart continues to go out to all of those that had their lives abruptly changed on that day.
