Josh:

Now hear this!

Ifn you wanna end up like me and a few others that I know around here... and you wanna have one of these:
Image

YOU BEST MIND YOUR DOC!

Good Dietary practices, proper rest, less worry etc., in addition to proper medications as prescribed such a Metropolol (Lopressor) and other BP Meds will reduce not only your high blood pressure, but also the risk of Type 2 Diabetes. Don't ask why I know all this ok???

Without question you are in our prayers and we shall pray for you daily. This is a close to my heart issue. When I was 38 years old Em and I had 5 kids, 3 under the age of 5... I was given 6 months - DOA by Christmas. Talk about a slap in the yap and land on yer butt moment :!: But, thankfully faith in the Lord, faith in the Lord's plan which included the very best doctors and care teams in the world, the greatest family a man could want, all the love I needed and the prayers of my friends and family, 16 years later I am going to celebrate another Christmas I was not supposed to have with my family.

You will survive! And you will have many many more Christmases with your family :!: :D

Barnyard wrote:I hate going to the doctor as much as anyone, but when they tell me to do something I pretty much listen. Take a rest Josh and enjoy the winter, those cubs will be waiting for you when you get to them. Get your health back and then take each day as it comes.

I tried to over do it this summer with the barn restoration and realized I couldn't slay all the dragons by myself so I backed off a bit. You can too.

Our prayers are definitely with you.

Yeah, That's my biggest problem. It's hard for me to admit I can't slay all the dragons either. Time goes so fast, most of the time we forget to enjoy life.

Slow down Podge. I'm 35, but most of the time I feel like I'm 60. Believe me, time WILL catch up with you. I'm paying now for some of my work methods from when I was younger.

Heart problems run in my family on both sides. I'm keeping my fingers crossed.

You'll also be in our prayers.

OH WOW man  Not my night shift buddy  Ease up guy
and spent some quality time with the young'uns and those CUBS!
A routine 16 hours a day is WAY too much! You should be spending
at least 4 hrs a day on the floor playing tractors with the kids, and
another 4 with the wonderful wife. You got's too much to live for,
so do your job and LIVE!!

PS We here on the forum want you with us for a looooooong time :)

I think; A routine of 16 hours a day playing with tractors and the kids would probably take care of the blood pressure problem….work will always be there….let somebody else do it.

Josh,
You got our prayers for sure :!: Slow it down a bit and enjoy life. I plan on stopping by one of these trips to Ohio to meet you! You should have been with us today at the Mini Stonethrow fest.... now that was relaxing and a nice break from the Christmas rush. Andrew is right he knows how to take it easy, I've seen him in action (or inaction :D ) as the case may be :!:
Take care listen to the Doc's and have a wonderful Christmas :!:

Take it easy Josh and enjoy the world around you. We have to remember that our jobs are not who we are. I appreciate your prayers for me and rest assured you are in mine. Peace, and joy my friend.

Josh: You're WAY too young for this to occur in your life so besides prayer, there's lots you can do in the interim before your physical. (I'm surprised he didn't put you on some BP meds to lower that diastolic (lower number which needs to be below 90 - ask me how I know). I don't know you, your lifestyle, family history etc, but there are many things you can do to start lowering those numbers:
1) Decrease your intake of salt as much as possible - retains water = higher BP. Stop eating salty foods such as pizza, ham, pork etc etc and increase fruits and veggies, DON'T salt food at all.
2) I'd guess in your job there's a lot of down time which I bet includes lots of soda pop - diet or otherwise !! Stop them both - sugar and/or aspartame are both bad news - drink bottle water.
3) Caffeine is another contributor to BP increases - less coffee, chocolate - whatever contains caffeine is very important. Tea has more than coffee.
4) MODERATE exercise is always helpful, but if you feel winded or lightheaded, stop immediately.
5) If you use alcohol, I'd slow that one down to maybe a glass of wine or a beer.
6) Smoking is a vaso-constricter big time - if you do, don't.
Use common sense and don't worry excessively - it just adds to the problem. I've seen pics you've posted of your family which clearly highlights how important it is for you to start your lifestyle changes immediately. Good luck, Craig
