Janie and I are very appreciative of your posts, your e-mails and your prayers. If there is power in prayer, and we believe that there is, it is comforting to know that so many people are asking for God's intervention on our behalf. We will meet with an oncologist on November 13 and begin the process of determining which body regions are infected and, hopefully, a plan which will destroy/control the cancer cells. Now for some "do as I say, not as I do" advice. At fifty years of age, commence taking colonoscopy at the frequency suggested by your family doctor. After the first, assuming that they find no evidence of cancer cells, they may suggest that you repeat them at five year intervals. Janie has often urged me to do so but I took my first one a couple of weeks ago at the age of seventy-one. Eight polyps were removed and lab examination revealed the presence of cancer cells. So, the cancer may be wide-spread making it more difficult to control/cure because I waited many years beyond the recommended starting date. There is no down-side to taking colonoscopy, absolutely no pain. But the benefits can be great, early detection of cancer cells greatly increases the chance for successful treatment. Your spouse, your children, extended family and friends want to share many more years with you. Make it happen. Dan
