I had a rough go of it, but am recovering. I think I had it about a week before I realized I needed help and went to ER. It lowers oxygen level in your blood, which affects your thinking as well as your strength. The Dr. thought I would need to be transferred to a bigger hospital in St. Louis where ventilators were available, but I started recovering quickly enough they cancelled that plan. I was in isolation for 2 weeks, then another week and a half as a swing bed patient where I was getting physical and occupational therapy, and was released Wed. afternoon. Our hospital is a small place compared to most, but the entire staff is fantastic. There is no place I could have gotten better care. When I left, the hall from my room near the back of the hospital all the way to the front door was lied with people cheering me. There were even balloons tied to the wheel chair. I wasn't sure if they were that glad to be rid of me or they were happ0y for me, but I decided to think happy. That gave me a big emotional boost.

I am glad to be home, and my strength is coming back, though it seems to be slow, but the Dr.s and nurses both told me I recovered faster than normal for someone that had it as severely as I did. It is going to take me quite awhile to get back to normal, but most people think I never was normal anyway.

Had a follow up appointment with my primary Dr. today, and he asked me how I was doing, and I told him pretty good, after getting home and setting my own exercise schedule, etc. I was gaining strength a lot faster. I was even strong enough to navigate my basement stairs the last few days. He looked at me, shook his head, and said I was recovering faster than most 30 year olds. I have always been pretty stubborn, seldom doing what was expected, but I considered that a pretty good compliment considering I will be 73 in April.

Just watch out for those trailer ramps.
There are two ways to get enough Cubs. One is to continue to accumulate more and more. The other is to desire less.
