Curious, since this was my first GoFundMe donation...just WHO gets the tip? The organizer, fund target person or the GoFundMe organization?

Gofundme gets the tip since they don't actually charge a fee.

Don't get me wrong, I am not against the tip, just throwing it out there so everybody knows they can tip as they wish.
There are two ways to get enough Cubs. One is to continue to accumulate more and more. The other is to desire less.

GoFundMe gets the tip, as well as a 2.9% fee. I don’t understand the tip, so I just included a very minimal amount in my donation. If anyone is uncomfortable with the GoFundMe arrangement, direct donations are acceptable. Just PM me.

My understanding (could be wrong) is that the 2.9 or whatever % goes to the credit card company, PayPal, or whoever. The "tip" is retained by GoFundMe.

I guess I read it wrong. Jim’s interpretation is correct. The tip is voluntary.

It's not too late to make your donation. The GoFundMe site is still open for those inclined to donate that way. Remember, the tip is voluntary. If you're not comfortable with doing it online, please PM me and I will send you instructions for a direct donation. We're getting closer and closer to our goal every day. Thank you and stay safe & healthy.

Don, thanks again for organizing this appeal. You noted leaving it open through the weekend and hopefully some that haven't had the opportunity to donate will do so before you close it out.

I have also benefited from Ralph's generosity and friendship and I think it's safe to assume most Forum members have as well; either directly or indirectly. Though many of the newer members likely haven't dealt directly with Ralph, his spirit and teachings are displayed through many of the "old timers" offering assistance.

I realize this is a unique time with the pandemic that is impacting everyone differently. Asking for donations, even in the best of times, can be a touchy subject. I ask that if it's something you can help with, please do so.

Thanks to all those who have been able to help, and keep Ralph and Connie in your thoughts and prayers.
David

Thank you, David. We are so close to $4,000, that I think I will keep it open for several more days to see if we can reach that figure.

Thank you all, for helping to achieve the amazing goal of $4250. Your donations will help to get the scooter, that Bigdog and Janet have so kindly donated, ready for Ralph to use. The balance of the funds will build a wheelchair ramp at Ralph and Connie's home, so that Ralph can more easily get out of the house and enjoy the outdoors.

It is time to shut down the GoFundMe site for further donations. If anyone still wants to donate toward our mission, please PM me and I will give you instructions on how to donate directly.

All proceeds will now be sent to Ralph and Connie for their intended purpose.

Again, thank you all, so very much, for helping to make this happen. It couldn't have been done without you!

Don, just make sure by sending it to Ralph that it's free from any loopholes such as insurance or taxes wanting a part of it. I'm going through things right now with my parents and medicare.

To bring everyone up to date, the total donation amount, exclusive of the GoFundMe fees, was just shy of $4300. I will be sending a check for $3500 to Ralph tomorrow. Once the cost of repairing the donated scooter is determined, I will send a check for the remaining balance to Ralph.

Thanks, again, to all who have generously contributed to this effort.
