That’s not good
Was bush hogging yesterday (about 25 acres) for a guy and wasn’t going fast at all and hit a little ditch and the left front wheel fell off. Spindle broke near the nut. So much for profit this trip. This is the 5th year I’ve done it and decided to wait until this time of year cause I’m tire of being bee stung. Luckily a friend of mine got me to sign up as an A & I dealer a few months ago and I got a new spindle and bearing assembly coming today.

Yes, 4630. Guess I should have taken the loader off. Probably would have helped.

Re: That’s not good
hate it when the front wheel falls off. Dont ya love it when the spindle digs into the dirt. mine still had the end on it but cant say much good about the threads.
better to have it and not need it than to need it and not have it...( YES this includes CUBS! )

It is a pretty piece of property. 44 acres. Got home and unloaded the tractor and bush hog and have fluid leaking out of a rear tire. No money to be made this year bush hogging.

Re: That’s not good
Got it fixed and back home in the shed. Was happy with the tire repair price. Didn’t have to buy a tube and they charged me $43.23 I did have some good quality time with our son while waiting.

Re: That’s not good
Went out to the shop to get a lead sled I borrowed from a friend at church yesterday morning before we went to church and the rear tire is flat again. Guess I’ll load it back up tomorrow after work and take it back.

Re: That’s not good
Took the tractor back to Claybrook Tire on Weds. after work and went back yesterday and picked it up. He found a thorn in it about the size of a pencil lead and he got it dug out of the tire. Hopefully there aren't anymore. He didn't charge me anything for the return trip. Can't complain about that!

Have honey locust trees on the acreage. Thorns are a major tire problem.Shane Nelson wrote:He found a thorn in it about the size of a pencil lead and he got it dug out of the tire.
I install the tire sealant from the auto parts store to seal up tube punctures. Works pretty good most of the time.
I wipe down the inside of the tire with a shop rag when exploring for the flat tire cause. The shop rag will catch on any protrusion inside the tire.
I have an excuse. CRS.

Re: That’s not good
When I hauled this tractor to and from the tire place I noticed the power steering cylinder leaking onto the trailer. No better time to fix it than now, I guess. Brought it to work and thank goodness our big lathe has a 16” chuck with a 5” hole in the center so I don’t mess up the welded on line. Used a pipe wrench on the end and it came right off. Rebuild kit is supposed to be here today.
