Congratulations Scotty! Looks Great. Drive safely and have fun.
I bought an old tractor all dusty and worn,
knew nothing about her just the year she was born
I washed her and greased her and painted her red
Now she lives happily right here in my shed.

Scotty, A really sharp truck! I think that you will like that 318 engine. Although I have owned mostly Chevys, I may just get a Dodge for my next truck. Larry

Scotty,

I just drove one for 500 miles the past couple of days with about 700 lbs. in the bed. I got 21 mpg on the highway at 60-65 mph.
The 1500 Dodge is one of the best highway trucks I have driven.
George Willer and Big Dog swear by them.
Oh I forgot to tell you, the truck I was driving had 165,000 miles on it and didn’t burn a drop of oil.(Those 318 engine don’t quit).
I hope my Ford does that good.

Nice!

May you have thousands of safe and enjoyable miles with it!

And if you get in a bind a very good friend of mine is a Chrysler mechanic trainer.

Guys:

I have been a real fan of Dodge a lot in the last 15 years... but this morning I am not all that thrilled... in fact I am kind RPO'd.

We had an extended warranty on our Grand Caravan... it expired at the end of Aug. or when we hit 160,000Km, we hit 160,000 when we went to Ottawa for my Mom's surgery    . We have told our dealer at least 3 times that there seemed to be an exhaust leak as we could hear it.

The said they looked but couldn't find it. This morning they found it. Seems the exhaust manifold on my 3 litre is cracked -- $600.00Cdn minimum just for the part and with labour I am looking at at least a grand to fix it for my annual safety. Yeah, I am not happy, in fact I am pretty darn uknowhat...

Sometimes dealers really are dumba$$es... and on this one they really fumbled. Apparently I have no recourse.

So, I am waiting for the bill for the tune up and the estimate with part numbers. I think I will look for a used manifold and get a good mechanic who doesn't charge $85.00 per hour to fix it.. man I am irritated...

Jamie said to me (he is my service rep), maybe you might want to consider buying a new van... Yeah, right bud, I am on a VA pension, still have a year at least to pay on this one and you want me to buy a new one... if I did, it probably would NOT be a DODGE... ooooh I am irritated.

Gonna need to take a Image on this one methinks... :? :?

Rudi, Can't you provide documentation that you had complianed about exactly this problem on several occasions prior to the expiration of the warranty, and this could make the repairs grandfathered so it could be covered by the warranty. I would certainly not let it end at the dealership level. Make some noise. I think that the least you would feel better, and it may help. My 2 cents, Larry

Rudi,

Get ready for an epistle on this one.

Some years ago I scratch built a motorhome using a wrecked late model truck as the platform.

http://members.toast.net/gwill/rv.html

The project was well under way when I discovered a problem with the engine. The harmonic balancer was loose, ruining the crankshaft. I went to the selling dealer to get it corrected and he said it was no longer under warranty. I disagreed, so I asked him why not. He said it was because it was in an accident.

Me: OK, the truck was already scheduled to come in to have the crankshaft changed... an already known defect.

Him: But the warranty has been cancelled.

Me: Who cancelled it?

Him: I did.

Me: Has GMC authorized you to write warranties? If not, how do you have the power to cancel one?

The upshot of the whole thing was that GMC provided the crankshaft and the dealer reluctantly replaced it under warranty.

So... Don't be timid. Provide whatever documentation you can and the dealer can be reduced to fear and trembling when they understand you are right and won't timidly go away.
