I don't think webshots permits direct linking.

It comes up as removed... you have to link webshots the same way as the eBay pics in the How To Do Neat Stuff in a Post thread..

I liked both. Was confused for a few minutes until I realized that you were upgrading and tweaking.. The Albums are the best option, but if you can do what say Dennis does, and have say 1/2 dozen in the Public Forum rotate say every 5 or 10 secs, then the randomness is there, but does not become too over crowded.
I will go along with what everybody else finds useful.. but I like the idea of the Forum forlders as well as the User Albums.. works nice... you are doing a bang up job, really.. I AM VERY Impressed...

It works
I just posted 2 new albums. I used both import from files and URL's. Pretty easy. One thing I saw was they were put in the album in the reverse order in which they were uploaded. Probably something I can figure out when I have time. I like it.

Currently, I have file sorting set to "Date Descending" which means the most recent files display first. Other sort options are:
Date Descending - your last uploaded photos would be listed last
File Ascending and Descending - files are listed alphabetically by filename
Title Ascending and Descending - files are listed alphabetically by whatever tile you give your pictures.
I can change the default sort if the majority prefers another method, however, each individual user can change the sort on a page-by-page basis. In the top-right of each thumbnail page, you'll see the words "Title" "File Name" and "Date" each with a + and - sign next to them (+ for ascending, - for descending).

In addition to (or in lieu of) the random and most recently uploaded thumbnail bars, we could have:
the most viewed images
the highest rated images
the images with the most recent comments
the most recently viewed images
the most recently created albums.
I can also control how many rows are displayed. I'm liking the combination of one row of random thumbs and 1 row of most-viewed for our homepage. What does everyone think?
I'll go ahead and set this up, but we can tweak it. The manual does caution that the "random" feature can become a problem if you get more than 10,000 photos in the gallery - hopefully it will be a while before we have this problem.

What does everyone think about the individual disk quota so far? I have it set for 5mb. I've noticed that we have two users who are about at 1/4 of their quota - one user has 10 files uploaded, the other has just 4. Yet another user has 21 files at about 1/3 of his quota.
It definitely looks like the users expertise as resizing images before uploading will be a big factor. We'll have to watch use once we go public and we can adjust the quotas up (I don't really want to go down) based on demand.

In addition to maximum file sizes, I can also set maximum image dimensions. Currently, the gallery allows images up to 2048 pixels on the longest edge. That's a pretty big image. Do you think we should drop the dimension limits somewhat to keep file sizes down.
I've done some researche and I can do a little programming to take advantage of this mas dimension settings. I can make it so that, when you upload a file that is bigger than the max size, the gallery will automatically resize the image to the max dimensions instead of rejecting it (default behavior).
So, what do y'all think? First, what should be the largest allowable image dimension. Second, do you think I should try this auto-resize hack?
