Missouri is an open carry state with some restrictions.

Living in a rural area with most folks armed to the teeth, I see no advantage in concealing a fire arm. If I feel the need to carry a fire arm, put the holster on my hip in an exposed area. Done, good to go.

22 magnum is the largest pistol round for my hip mounted fire arms. Also have rifles and shot guns; 30 cal. and 12 and 20 gauge with slugs which can be carried openly.

Interesting, couple days ago a salesman stopped by the house to sell me a security system. Declined the offer, considering that I live a short half a block from the county sheriff's and state highway patrol office and about a mile from the city police office. My guess, 30 seconds from a 911 call and I would be surrounded by law enforcement officers.

This doesn't seem like the sort of question one should answer on an open internet site.

I agree with Jim. What I carry is something others don't need to know about. My weapon of choice is typically the element of surprise.
It is common sense to take a method and try it. If it fails, admit it frankly and try another. But above all, try something.

Ga is an open carry state also. I choose to do both but mostly concealed. Not sure why it would be a big deal to say if you carry or not unless your worried about your inner circle of friends. It's everyone's 2 amendment right especially if your open carry. My personal choice is my m&p .380 bodyguard or my XDS 9.

Which is why you would carry concealed. I do think open carry could prevent crimes such as robberies. I think if someone planned to rob a store and saw someone with a gun on their hip they might decide it's not worth it. They might look at you as a threat and take you out first. A lot of people's conceal weapon is a knife which has been proven to be faster than a gun at a certain distance.

This is a worth while discussion topic since "The latest figures from the FBI show that July 2016 was the 15th consecutive month of record background checks for gun sales".

A lot of firearms are currently being sold or transferred. My guess is that most sales are taking place in urban areas.

As far as a firearm for conceal and carry, it's personal choice.

As I previously stated this is a rural area with a lot of firearms owners. There are at least 2 "rifle" ranges within hearing shot of the acreage, that's beside the one on the acreage. It's not uncommon to hear fire arms being shot on any weekend. There are quite a number of club and private "rifle" ranges in the county.

I currently have no use for a conceal and carry license. However, in a previous life my family owned a gas station. Payments were all most 100% cash. A conceal and carry license would have been necessary. Some days receipts were several $1000's.

Edit: Talking to visiting daughter and this topic was on the screen. Daughter saw the topic. Discussion, daughter has signed up for a conceal and carry class.

If anybody wants to carry a pistol or whatever as far as I'm concerned it's their right, and I admire those who seek the required training to do it the proper way. But I can't help but get a little chuckle out of some of the combination Barney Fife/bantam rooster types I see with a street howitzer strapped to their hips; the doofus carrying at a bridal shower I went to a while back comes to mind, or the double doofus with a glock stuck in his belt, behind his back I saw going into the grocery store the other day. I can't help but wonder what would happen if things did go bad--self-inflicted bullet wound to the foot comes to mind.....

Beretta 92FS, Browning HP, or Colt 1911 government model... which ever one I practiced with last, but usually the Beretta since it is double action. Around the farm, Browning Citori O/U, M1 Garand, or a Remington 700... all depends on which critters are causing problems ;)

Game plan for tomorrow during daughter's visit.

Make apple bars from freshly picked apples, gym, clean out the low water crossing culvert, target shoot, farmers market. Oh! wife and daughter are going shopping.

Target shooting, we'll use 22 caliber revolvers and semi automatics because of the expense of shooting larger caliber rifles or shot guns. Currently 22 caliber rounds are easily obtainable, previously very difficult.

The wife and daughter shopping trip will cost me 'MONEY". OH well, it's only a bit of cash. What's a dad, granddad, great grand dad going to object to, much less have anything to say about anything. NOTHING.
