Homestead Rescue

Postby Eugene » Sat Jun 11, 2016 6:55 pm

Featuring Dennis Raney's half brother and his family.
Discovery Channel is looking to an expert homesteader to teach families how to live off-the-grid in its latest series, Homestead Rescue starts 16 June. Should be an interesting program.

Edit: Starts 17 June.
I have an excuse. CRS.

I can personally certify that Marty has always been a wild man :)

PS: Eugene, Marty is actually my step-brother -- we do not share the wild man gene.

Marty was not the one I expected to have the "wild man" gene. LOL

Watched the program. Interesting. My only though is that some folks should not be homesteaders, under funded, and ill prepared.

Short story. Summer job building concrete hog pens, late July, early August, in west central Iowa. Two employees in a VW bug were camping out in the farmers corn field. One day they ask me about the corn. They were crapping yellow. Informed them of the differences between field corn and sweet corn, and that the field corn was dented, no longer eatable by humans.

They said that they were going to Alaska to homestead. I told them that they had barely enough time to get there and suggested returning to New York City. They said that they were prepared, they had an ax.
I have an excuse. CRS.
