Salesmanship on Craigslist

Postby Scrivet » Mon Mar 02, 2015 5:38 pm

Just browsing Craigslist and these two ads just strike me as some fine examples of salesmanship.
http://columbiamo.craigslist.org/grd/4913373145.html
Text from the ad;
this a small power unit, it has a continental engine with a 540 pto sticking out of the back, it has locked up setting dont know why but it did turn over when I got it years ago

http://columbiamo.craigslist.org/grd/4913328868.html
Text from the ad;
I have 3 plows for sale
#1 IH 2-12 trip type on steel, looks to be in pretty good shape 225
#2 Case 3-14 trip type, needs a little worl to be field ready, 200
#3 JD 2-14 hyd lift with spoked wheels looks to be good 250
call with any questions and sorry the pics are hard to see but the weeds grew up around them and just too much trouble to move for a pic, thanks

The power unit appears to be Allis Chalmers. No way the seller could not know that. Great engines if never frozen, as in ice.

These go hand-in-hand with the ad photos that were shot through waxed paper, at night or from 100 yards away. :shock:

Well the hood line looks like an IH letter series, the base says AC. :? I don't know how much I trust his identification as a Continental engine though if he can't figure out why an engine setting for years mysteriously locked up. :roll:

Doesn't his ad just make you want to drop everything and go buy it right now though!

I purchased two John Deere trailer type, trip plows for $100-, total. And that included delivered to the acreage.
I have an excuse. CRS.
