Re: Cub Engine ??? NOT
Don, this engine has been put into use in September 2006. They use them in cargo ships.
There are two ways to get enough Cubs. One is to continue to accumulate more and more. The other is to desire less.

Re: Cub Engine ??? NOT
Does this go with your "piston rod" post?
How many cans of copper coat does it take for the head gasket?

Re: Cub Engine ??? NOT
That's like what the bent piston rod came out of!---very large cargo ship engine!---mostly container cargo type! the Maersk lines have on order to buy 20 total of these new class E ships with either 4--or 6 already in service on the seas right now! ( think they are Korean built and China buys them)
The engine pictured is for the new class E jobbers!---they claim to be the worlds largest ships!
Don't how they are going to get them into anybodys port, but they say they gotta have them!
these ships are 200 feet wide 1,300 feet long and (I think) 170 feet tall!---cost something like 186 million each to build! lol! thanks sonny

Re: Cub Engine ??? NOT
Do those use multiple engines, or a single one?
If you are not part of the solution,
you are part of the problem!!!

Re: Cub Engine ??? NOT
Single engines in the new ones---saves space for cargo! --- they are made in 7-8-10- and 14 cylinder sizes! never figured out why odd # of cylinders either!
The triple E class Maersk ships can haul 17,000 ----40 foot containers each holding 50 ton payload!---once unloaded at dock semi trucks cant haul them down the highways because 40 tons gross will about put you over the federal/state weight limits!---deduct the empty weight of your truck and it would take 2 semi's to haul 1 container load!--(legal anyway)! thanks; sonny

Re: Cub Engine ??? NOT
This thread has quite a collection of misstatements and bits of data from multiple vessels.
The pictures are of the engine in an Emma Maersk class ship. It was until a few years ago the largest container ship with a capacity of 15,500 containers (each 20 feet long). It has a single propulsion engine. Maersk is based in Denmark.
Maersk's latest ship is the Triple-E, capacity 18,000 containers (20 feet). It has 2 propulsion engines.

Another slightly larger ship has passed the Triple-E. It is the CSCL Globe, at 19,000 containers. It has a single propulsion engine. This one belongs to China Shipping Containers Lines.
