A Father's Pride

Postby Barnyard » Mon Nov 03, 2014 9:29 pm

Friday night Rosanne and I went to the Halloween party at the AmVets. Melissa and Nick joined us there for the night. During the night the AmVets had a 50/50 drawing and Melissa was the lucky winner of $100.00. When they came over to pay her she told them to keep half her winnings as a donation to the veterans. They asked if she was sure and she said yes. The man only had twenty dollar bills so he told her to keep $60.00 and the veterans would just take $40.00. Melissa said they should take $60.00 and she would take $40.00. She probably thought the money would just go for building upkeep and such. What she found out later was that all proceeds of that nights raffle go to Camp Hope. Camp Hope is a facility in Houston Texas dedicated to supporting combat veterans and their families with post traumatic stress from the effects of military combat. I have always been proud of my little girl, but this generous donation is one of the reasons I am blessed to have her as my daughter.

There are two ways to get enough Cubs. One is to continue to accumulate more and more. The other is to desire less.

Yes, Bill, justifiably proud.
