any other hobbies besides cubs??

Postby ad356 » Wed Aug 06, 2014 10:39 pm

i have another hobby, i have a real arcade pinball machine collection. in my collection i have a firepower, bride of pinbot, jokerz, and high speed. these are all Williams machines and they play fantastic. i also have a data east WWF but that machine is currently down. i have had allot of issues with that WWF, and almost no issues with the williams except fixing minor things and installing LED's. Williams made some fantastic pinball machines, its too bad they are no longer making them. Williams may no longer be involved in pinball, but that doesn't mean it's dead... far from it. pinball has seen a resurgence in the last few years. the major players making pinball machines now are sterns and jersey jack. jersey jack has done a wizard of oz that is a current game, its fantastic. sterns does allot of contemporary stuff, they did a star trek based upon the movie that came out in 2012. they also did avengers, AC/DC, Metallica, Simpsons, sopranos, nascar, family guy, and a whole bunch more.

just wondered if their were any "pinheads" among us.

I'm into bow hunting, motorcycles and motorcycle racing. My old body isn't quite as into the motorcycles as the rest of me though....

I'm retired and need things to fill up my time. I also like woodworking and travel to craft shows to sell stuff so I can afford more material to make more stuff. I have a toy train. I use that term because a model railroader would not mix era on the same layout. If I want to pull a Phase III Amtrak coach with a steam engine I will do so. During the summer I grow a garden. Other busy but not necessarily hobby stuff includes asparagus sales, next spring will be the last - I'm getting too old to reach the ground, or maybe it is getting back up. We also do spring vegetable plant sales with the emphasis on tomato plants. Vern

im aware of that museum but im clear across the country. there is a local place, its a pool hall, they have 13 machines in there. i frequently go there a couple times a month at least. pinball is just a fun, high energy, high skill game. it think its a blast, especially high-speed and firepower

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ckhnqKOgUCQ

back in 1986 high-speed literally saved pinball from its near death experience. pinball has seen several high's and low's throughout history. high speed was revolutionary, everything from the game play, the speed, the light show.

I restore Model T Fords for myself and others when I am not playing with Cubs. It is fun and the extra money allows me to work on the cubs.

Well i guess some of my hobbies are hunting and traveling. drove to Wisconsin from s. w. Arkansas to pick up a cub and about 3 months ago drove to Ohio to pick up my new squirrel dog puppy, hope he makes a good one. LOL P.S. That is not the kind of traveling my wife wants to do :big smile:

Used to be a target shooter and rifle instructor, along with camping, but my health has caused me to back off most of that, though I still do a little plinking and varmint elimination. Living as far out in the country as I do with farms all around me they like my varmint hunting hobby. Groundhogs and coyotes mostly, with some squirrels and rabbits thrown in if they get to be a nuisance. Have had to eliminate dogs that were into cattle a time or two. I have a hundred yard practice range in my backyard.
If you are not part of the solution,
you are part of the problem!!!

I just realized that ebay has the toys I grew up with. The Dinky Toys were made in England and are diecast. I purchased many of them for my 4yo grandson.
I had assembled a 1/32 slot car track as a kid.12yo I put three sets together and filled a 4'x8' sheet of plywood. I had the whole family racing on Christmas eve.
They offer some really neat looking slot cars today and motor cycles too.
At 21yo I got into the atlas N gauge trains. The grandson will have a blast with my son's and family racing slot cars I just purchased everything I had as a kid and more.

I want to give the kids and grandsons all the fun I had before I pass on. I don't care about the cost I can't take the money with me when I leave this earth. We only pass this way once. Everyday is a gift for me to enjoy.
Godbless, bigbill

Well I try to kill Yankees in my spare time.
Civil war re-enacting is one of my hobbies. The better looking feller standing in the tin type picture is my nephew taken the 150th anniversary battle of Gettysburg last year.
