Civil War Veteran at Our Farm

Postby PVF1799 » Wed May 28, 2014 7:46 am

This is my GGG Grandfather in his uniform in front of our family home since 1799. Peter J. Ogsbury established our farm in 1799. This is where Rex '48 will return to when he's done.

It is neat to have pictures of your ancestors like that. I have pictures of my War For Southern Independence ancestors but none in any kind of uniform. I must be a lot older than you, for my vets. are my great grandfathers and only a couple of gr. gr. grandfathers were in the war. Yours appear to be in his GAR uniform. But that is still neat. Have copies made so if anything happens to yours, you will still have a copy.

Thanks Ken. The pictures will be apreciated by all that see them were I work(retired sort of?). Live close to Nashville, Tn so you know there was a lot of civil war action around here. Love the door.

Again thanks.

Nice pictures, I wish we had some of my 3 great grandfather who was a Yankee in the 4th Mich. Vol. Inf. and was wounded on the Wheatfield at Gettysburg. As the story goes when one of the relatives died, not sure on when it happened, another was so distraught that while the family was at the funeral he gather up the family pictures and papers that were in some suitcases and went out and burned them.  So make some good copies and distribute them among family members, or at least the ones that might care.

Sadly, the rifle is not in our possession. Mt Dad does not know where it went. He feels it was gone well before he was born in 1919.
