Ebay -- Something Fishy Here

Postby Bill Hudson » Wed Nov 13, 2013 4:08 pm

Looking at J4 magnetos and find that a couple of listings are identical --- right down to the serial number on the magneto. The only difference is the seller. Take a look at the following two listing numbers:
321242262971
261327789244

What's up?

Perhaps some crooks copy the listing of others and then do not deliver anything after the buyer pays them. But eBay (PayPal) typically holds the money for a period of time to counteract such chicanery.
You are well justified in being suspicious.

Look at any listing. Ebay makes it easy to copy. "sell one like this" loads up everything but the picture and that is a snap to copy. I used it to sell some chairs and I had to do a lot of editing to make it "my own". Plagiarizing is easy in a cut and paste world.
