Farmall Cub

I was mowing the back field last night and found this sticking out of the ground.



It was about 20 feet in from the fence line. I never noticed it on my first two passes but when I came around the third time I spotted it. It is an aluminum hunting arrow but there was no tip on it, unless it stuck in the ground when I pulled it out. It wasn't in very far and I felt around for the tip but couldn't find one.

I asked the woman across the road if her kids had a bow and she said they didn't. I now suspect the family behind her may have shot it from their yard. From the angle it stuck I can tell it wasn't fired from our road since it looks like it traveled a bit to get that arch.

Be careful Bill While reading your post, I was reminded of this scene in Lonesome Dove:

It may have hit a tree limb and deflected it in another direction.

No arrows, but did find stone arrowhead. Spent bottle rockets once, and golf balls that no one in the neighborhood will admit to hitting.

Once again Melissa and her scouts have been called to duty. Bandit is well trained in launching concrete blocks from the top of her head.

An incomplete list of the things I have hit while mowing rough land includes a bellhousing from a car or light truck, a cured sack of Portland cement, a full-size box spring, a 1 1/2 HP electric motor, a big truck inner tube, numerous deer carcasses in various stages of decay, numerous concrete blocks-- and lots of debris discarded by contractors for Time-Warner while constructing aerial co-ax lines on existing utility poles. Guess who I am not happy to see "working" in my area.
